Theme for 2024 = “Eight” Year

In numerology, this number speaks of balance, competence, wisdom, leadership, money, and success by bridging the spiritual and material worlds. This number also corresponds to the eighth house in astrology, the realm of Scorpio. Its planetary rulers are Mars (traditional) and Pluto (modern). These planets initiate action, change & transformation.

The number eight is a powerful number! 2024 collectively, carries a theme of personal responsibility and the acknowledgement of one’s divine sovereignty. For many of you this will be a transformative year as number 8 is a karmic number as well. You may find that certain patterns & cycles will suddenly end on their own or by you initiating it by setting a healthy boundary, by adopting a new mindset or by controlling your emotions and thus, not reacting as you did in the past. You will think to yourself, oh my gosh was this really all that it took?

I see a lot of people reinventing themselves in 2024! Many of you will decide to change your hair and/or wardrobe as you embrace a new persona. New you, new life! You may also decide to move so you can pursue a better opportunity, save money, or just make a new start.

Get ready, because if your potential has felt limiting or stagnant, things open back up! There is a caveat to this blessing however. As we see the “8” symbol above their heads in The Magician & Strength tarot cards, it is your responsibility to maintain a clear, positive mindset this year! . Limit distractions by being intentional with your sources of input. The subconscious is extremely impressionable. Mindless habits, addictions, etc. can be reinforced if we are not paying attention to what we consume. The Magician embodies the attributes of focus and will. Strength embodies the attributes of inner strength, patience, and wisdom. Both are centered, grounded & present in their current environment.

The cost versus benefit ratio of your resources will be apparent this year. Internal & external space is at a premium in 2024. What is adding value and what is merely taking up space? Is there something that is having a negative impact or presenting a particularly difficult challenge? What is going well for you that you want to continue and/or build upon in 2024?

The tarot’s minor arcana is broken down to the four elements: Air, earth, water & fire. In general, the four elements in the tarot represent our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual experience. I will give you all a quick message for each of the four minor arcana “eight” cards. I hope the messages provide helpful insights as you begin 2024.

1) Eight of swords: The mental realm. Overthinking and self-limitation often are challenges highlighted with this card. This is a tough one. There is no white knight riding in here, honey. Looks like it will be up to you to take the first step if you want to make a change. Oftentimes a lack of perspective is the result of lack of information. Reach out for help, support, advice and/or do some research. The blindfold is coming off and you will see things in a new light in 2024. You are smart & capable and more powerful than you give yourself credit for! One last thing, Queen. Grab one of those swords on your way out. You can use it to cut through the lies & BS in the future. Believe me, you won’t be fooled again.

2) Eight of Pentacles: The physical realm. Your daily habits and routines add up over time! Practice makes perfect. In 2024 give it your all! Do you want to go to school or learn a new trade or skill? Or perhaps you want to embrace a new health & diet regime. Pentacles in the tarot can also represent money. What are your daily spending habits? Is there a way you can put more money into savings and investments this year? If something is overwhelming, break it down to smaller steps. Limit distractions. What you focus on each day either leads you closer to your goal or farther away from it. Choose wisely.

3) Eight of Cups: Emotional fulfilment is at the root of this card. It’s not terrible where you are, but maybe its not great either. If it feels like something is missing, perhaps you could use a vacation or change of scenery. Or 2024 may find you deciding to go in a new direction such as relocating, changing careers or jobs, switching majors in college, pursuing/ending a relationship, taking time out for extended travel, etc. The pursuit of happiness and sometimes, taking the road less traveled, is implied with this card. The eight of cups can reflect an internal, emotional process as well. Is 2024 the year you decide to move on or make a change?

4) Eight of Wands. Action, inspiration, growth! 2024 is full of forward momentum! You may want to upgrade your technology to keep up with the changes. AI will be in the spotlight. Some of you will enroll in training to learn more about it for work or on a personal level. If you’ve had something in the works, you most likely will see it progress or build momentum in 2024. Media distractions & disclosures will increase. Focus on YOU. Financially, the eight of wands brings in good news. However, it can be easy come, easy go, if you are not mindful of your spending habits (read the eight of pentacles above). Lastly, 2024 is the year to make positive changes that you have been putting off. Are you feeling inspired to step out of your comfort zone and try something different?

This week: 1212 Portal, New Moon in Sagittarius & Mercury Retrograde!

A lot of astrological activity this week! 12/11/23

Tomorrow 12/12/23 is the new moon in the sign of Sagittarius. It has some tricky aspects to Neptune & Uranus giving it an air of unpredictability, while its conjunction to Mars adds fuel to this already courageous & optimistic transit in a mutable fire sign.

The numerology of this cosmic portal 12/12/2023 adds up to the number 13 this year. This number corresponds to the Death card in the tarot. This energetic signature provides an excellent opportunity for releasing & healing. The Death card in the tarot speaks of endings & transformation. An old cycle is complete, a new one begins.

The moon will be “increasing” until it reaches its conclusion (full moon) on December 27, and keep in mind that Sagittarius is a “big picture” type of energy. The momentum is there, but small details can easily be overlooked, especially since Mercury goes into retrograde on the 13th and will stay in retrograde until January 1st.

Review, release, reconsider & reassess are some keywords to keep in mind during Mercury retrograde.

This particular Mercury retrograde is square Neptune, which amplifies its affects. Neptune is the planet of dreams and illusions. So use your discernment before taking information/advice at face value. Keep in mind how you communicate to others as well. Misunderstandings are possible. The energies are quite amped up this week! Try to find some quiet time to focus and center as you may find you are more easily distracted than usual.

11/27/23: Gemini Full Moon. The breakthrough!

The full moon in expressive Gemini begins our week early Monday morning. The sun is in the opposite sign of adventure loving Sagittarius, closely accompanied by fiery Mars, while at the same time both the sun and the moon are squaring Saturn. Squares indicate challenging aspects in astrology. And when a planet squares Saturn, you can bet it adds a serious tone to the conversation!

Mercury, Gemini’s ruling planet is paving the way in front of the Sun & Mars also in the sign of Sagittarius, prompting us to ask that tough question, have the conversation, take initiative, reach out for help, do the research, etc. Whatever this is for you, be prepared to receive an answer or information that results in the removal of a blockage or obstacle that clears the air, or offers a solution, in an area of your life where you may have previously been feeling stuck or unsure.

Look how the ten of wands is pushing towards the eight of wands. The ten of wands indicates a heavy burden, responsibilities or putting in the work. The number ten signifies endings in the tarot. I often say that the ten of wands is the final lap of the race and/or the moment before a breakthrough. That is what I am seeing here.

You are being urged this week, to begin a course of action on a new plan or project, or make an adjustment to your current strategy in response to an obstacle or challenge.

The Aces in the tarot signify the all-encompassing potential of the entire suit. The Ace of Wands corresponds to the element of fire. It represents divine energy, motivation, passion & impulse in its purest form. Some keywords for this card are inspiration, drive, courage, spirit, new beginnings, adventure, travel, creation, and virility.

The moon is in its first quarter waxing phase, as it travels through the signs of Pisces, Aries & Taurus this week. Its steady increase in strength as it travels through these signs, paired with the Ace of Wands, is a positive sign for those who are ready to move an idea from the realm of thought into physical reality. If you have a plan in progress, first quarter moons can sometimes bring up challenges or obstacles that require attention. Although inconvenient, this allows for adjustments to be made early on, preventing something from becoming a larger problem later.

Today, we’ve got the new moon in Scorpio and this is a very significant transit. I don’t have the space to go into all the planetary influences, but let me say there is a lot of power to this one! Many of us have been feeling the frequency of this new moon for about a week. You may have been experiencing an influx of energy, motivating you to make a change. If you have been feeling stagnant in an area of your life this could have resulted in feelings of frustration or anxiousness as Mars is opposite Uranus, which can have the effect of a racehorse in the starting gate chomping at the bit!

Our words & actions this week, can have lasting effects for up to six months. Unexpected shake-ups and disagreements are possible. But so are breakthroughs and fresh starts! Keep your vision focused on what you want to see in six months. Particularly in the areas of health, close relationships, finances & investments.

The seven of cups is the main theme card this week. Whenever the 7 of cups comes up in a reading, it does indicate a few things. 1) There are too many distractions and/or clutter. This can be physical clutter as well as emotional/mental clutter. 2) It is time to pick a cup. You have contemplated this this long enough. Make a decision, and take positive action. 3) Be realistic. Illusions, hopes and dreams are an aspect of this card. Such things can inspire us, or keep us stuck behind a veil of escapism and/or wishful thinking. 4) Don’t accept what you are told at face value. Do your own research.

The Death card is riding up behind the seven of cups indicating the end of a cycle and/or some sort of transformation. As we have Judgement as the underlying energy below these two cards, this further supports a change in the status quo. An opportunity for growth.

This week, there is a shift in the collective mindset that provides the motivation to let go of what is past its expiration date. Losses will have the profound effect of placing things back into perspective. Resulting in gaining back control of something that previously may have felt chaotic or disorganized.

Scorpio is a deep, dark archetype. It oftentimes presents us with a situation that challenges us to face a fear, or break an undesirable habit/pattern to overcome external or internal limitations that stand in the way of our life’s progression. Despite the holiday hoopla, I see a trend this year to less spending and more practical gifts. Quality over quantity will be the motto of the this year’s savvy shopper!

Fresh starts and new timelines are possible this week! Make a commitment to what you want to see in about six months and plan accordingly. Finances, health, home, food and investments will be of particular importance at this time. Stick to a budget, get rid of what you don’t need and put money in savings as much as possible. Psychologically, forgive others, release the past and/or have that difficult conversation to give yourself (as well as others) the freedom to heal and move forward. Tune out distractions and focus your energy on what has intrinsic value.

This week, Venus transitions into the sign of Libra on November 8th and remains there until December 4th. Venus does well here. She has a positive influence on the relationships & agreements in our life. Venus desires harmony, balance, cooperation, & mutual respect in this sign.

On Thursday, the waning (decreasing) moon also moves into the sign of Libra. This has the effect of balancing our emotions, providing a much-needed reprieve from the heavy Mars/Scorpionic planetary energies we have been experiencing lately!

On Saturday, we will be experiencing a full moon lunar eclipse in the sign of earthy Taurus. This ends the intense Taurus-Scorpio eclipse cycle which has been active since November 2021. Below are the dates of the eclipses that occurred while the nodes were in Taurus & Scorpio.

November 19th, 2021 – North Node Lunar Eclipse at 27° Taurus

April 30th, 2022 – North Node Solar Eclipse at 10° Taurus

May 15th, 2022 – South Node Lunar Eclipse at 25° Scorpio

October 25th, 2022 – South Node Lunar Eclipse at 2° Scorpio

May 5th, 2023 – South Node Lunar Eclipse at 14° Scorpio

October 28th, 2023 – North Node Lunar Eclipse at 5° Taurus

Eclipses are powerful agents of change. Its a good idea to pay attention to what is happening in your life around the time of eclipses. Because most likely, the events that transpire will have a significant effect on your life in some way. The 10/28/23 full moon eclipse closes the chapter of this 2021-2023 nodal eclipse cycle. New Moon in Aries, Spring Equinox & Pluto changes signs!

The Aries new moon is coinciding with the Spring Equinox, super charging the energies of renewal & courage.

This fiery, independent new moon reminds us to reflect on how far we have come and to tap into our sovereignty as we begin nature’s new year. The Spring Equinox brings with it an influx of vitality that lights the spark for creative ideas and motivates us to initiate new projects.

Be aware, that on Tuesday, the Aries new moon is squaring Mars. This could result in conflicts or disagreements that can quickly escalate. Resist the urge to give in to impulsive words or actions! This week we have the full moon in the sign of Virgo and Saturn changing signs into Pisces! Don’t be surprised if some changes come about in your life! Reconciliations, breakups, new relationships, as well as making the decision to change jobs, move, start a new health regime, start a new endeavor, or end one. Anything is possible!

The sun in Pisces (nine of cups) and the moon in Virgo (nine of pentacles) has us reassessing important areas of our life wherein we have known for a while that a change is needed. Knight of Pentacles has his eye on the prize and urges his faithful steed forward each day as he keeps his future goal ever present in his mind’s eye. As an earth element card, the Knight of Pentacles moves the slowest, as it represents the physical realm. Progress here takes time and action on your part. What steps do you need to take this week to make progress on a project or goal? You may have gone off track. Is it time for a realignment?

The Emperor is smack dab in the middle of this reading! He represents the sign of Aries. Controlled, masculine fire. This is my discipline and strategy card. Adding structure to your daily routine would be helpful. Cut out distractions and be aware of “time bandits” that sap your focus and energy. Be firm and stick to it when setting personal boundaries. Next month, the sun moves into Aries on the 21st. This could be a time marker for some of you. Take care of those small details now before the spring season kicks in!
